Gading Kencana use AI in solar farm operations
GADING Kencana Sdn. Bhd., one of the leading companies in the solar energy industry in Malaysia, continues to strengthen its operations by integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology based on deep learning in the management of their solar farms.
Through a strategic collaboration with Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM), Gading Kencana is developing a local forecasting model that is suitable for Malaysia’s tropical climate.
Its Managing Director, Datuk Ir. Guntor Tobeng said that the model uses AI algorithms to analyze weather data and farm performance in real time.
“This enables continuous optimization of energy generation.
“Deep learning is an advanced branch of AI that is capable of processing complex data such as temperature, humidity, solar radiation and operational performance to identify patterns and make accurate predictions of energy output under various weather conditions,” he said in a statement.
Guntor said the initiative would not only increase the efficiency of solar farms, but also contribute towards the country’s net zero carbon emissions target by 2050.
“This solar forecast is very important for us as investors because it provides accurate energy forecasts to plan investment returns and cash flows.
“It also helps in terms of grid planning and maintenance, to avoid disruptions and reduce operating costs,” he said.
With this smart technology-based approach, he said, Gading Kencana continues to drive the development of the country’s renewable energy, in addition to strengthening local capabilities in the fields of green technology and big data. – SM
